François Nespola, Nice, 1858-1911
François Nespola's family immigrated from Albenga, Republica of Genes. He spent his live as a gardener in the west part of Nice, close to the vast properties and wonderfull gardens of the first englih, russian and even american tourists. They spent the winter on the French Riviera and built « folies » - medieval castles, abbay, marble palace ....
François was born in 1858, just before the incorporation of Nice County to France in 1860. Before this date, Nice County was sardinian, it's to say part of the States of Savoy-Piedmont-Sardinia.
Nice's extension, the Promenade des Anglais from Magnan to Carras, the rich market flower, the arrival of the train PLM (Paris Lyon Méditerranée ), the setting of a system of irrigation by ponds… all these events gave him a chance to work, spare money and buy a piece of land to build our family house. From our balcony, we can admire palm trees, cedars, araucarias, eucalyptus ... and other species of the old big domains.
