can find five main points of interest :
Morignole
is a small hamlet of La Brigue, Alpes-Maritimes. From 1770 till
1947,this history was shared between the States of Savoie and France.
The site aims to establish the genealogy of this small hamlet,it is a
difficult but fascinating enterprise because it is a journey with
the shepherds and farmers of the mountains in the County of
Nice.
These shepherds practised the transhumance towards the French Riviera
coasts or towards Piedmont and Ligurie. Many of them, my family for
instance, settled down to Nice.
The registry office
redraws the story of Lanteri, Rantrua, Pastoreli,Alberti.... They often
have the same first names and nicknames were added to families: Lanteri
Mottin, Lanteri Massa, Lanteri Minet ...... the present family trees on
the site list more 5.500 persons.
For the shepherds,
mountains
were not a border. The municipality of La
Brigue spread wider than now. The high mountain
pastures,
barns and hamlets divided up on the current municipality but also on
the Italian Ligurie and Piedmont. The site presents maps and pages on
the brigasque ground through the history of the County of Nice and the
States of Savoie. La Brigue was italian up to 1947.
